COST per COPY (CPC)

Cost per Copy is a concept that is used to compare the total average cost of maintaining a copier. Cost per Copy is also a method used by consumers to control cost of running a copier, usually with full maintenance agreement that includes all consumable supplies such as toners, developers, drums, fuser rollers, and PM kits.

The following table summarizes the cost savings of an average copier($0.016 per copy) vs. an average printer($0.05 per copy) for different volume users.

Monthly Volume Average Cost (Copier) Average Cost (Printer) Monthly Savings Annual Savings
5,000 $80.00 $250.00 $170.00 $2,040.00
10,000 $160.00 $500.00 $340.00 $4,080.00
50,000 $800.00 $2,500.00 $1,700.00 $20,400.00
100,000 $1,600.00 $5,000.00 $3,400.00 $40,800.00

1,000,000 $16,000.00 $50,000.00 $34,000.00 $408,000.00
For example, if your company makes an average of 300,000 copies per month, your monthly savings by switching from laser printers to digital copier is $10,200.00 per month. That’s an annual savings of $122,400.00. A Digital Copier/Printer will cost you less than $30,000.00 fully loaded and prints at a speed of 70 copies/prints per minute compared to 20 prints per minute for a laser printer.
